Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

A lead defense contractor sitting in Hood River, Oregon is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This person will working onsite on a 9/80 schedule with some local travel to Eastern Oregon involved for flight testing, working with customers and other vendors as needed, additionally they will be required to travel to Monterey Bay, CA and Petaluma, CA for additional flight testing and team activities (in total travel 25% of the time). He/she will be performing full product lifecycle, including design, development, and installation of electronic packaging in support of their VTOL UAS product. This person will be required to be hands on with the product and developing a new payload, assisting in field flight testing. This ME will need to apply their understanding of Military Standards, IPC harness standards, while being involved performing design analytics. This role will be paying between $110-152k, depending on years of experience and qualifications.

Skills and Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, full product life cycle (design, development, installation)

• Experience with integration of electronic components, being hands on with payloads, airframes, or any UAS product

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), RCA (Root Cause Analysis); understanding of structured approaches and Six Sigma connection to RCA tools

• Ability to travel 25% of the time locally to Eastern Oregon and out of state

• Understanding and applied knowledge of MIL STD's (810, 461, 464, 704), Handbook 365 and IPC Harness standards;

• Understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards across design, manufacturing and inspection
