Location: Hybrid opportunity based in San Diego, California, offering a flexible combination of in-office collaboration and remote work.

Note: Applicants should have 6+ years of tax law experience. California Bar admission is preferred, but attorneys licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction who are eligible for reciprocity will be considered.

Job Description

\n
• Lead sophisticated federal and California tax controversy matters.
\n
• Represent clients before the IRS, FTB, CDTFA, and other taxing authorities.
\n
• Manage audits, examinations, administrative appeals, and tax litigation matters.
\n
• Handle collections matters including Offers in Compromise, installment agreements, and Collection Due Process hearings.
\n
• Advise clients on tax planning, business structuring, entity formation, and complex transactions.
\n
• Develop legal strategies for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses.
\n
• Draft legal memoranda, settlement proposals, pleadings, and client communications.
\n
• Serve as the primary advisor for client relationships and strategic planning.
\n
• Mentor and develop junior attorneys while collaborating with firm leadership.
\n
• Contribute to business development and continued growth of the practice.
\n

\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
\n
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
\n
• 6+ years of tax law experience.
\n
• Extensive experience handling federal and/or state tax controversy matters.
\n
• Strong background in tax planning and client counseling.
\n
• Excellent legal writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
\n
• Proven ability to independently manage sophisticated tax matters.
\n
• Outstanding interpersonal and client relationship skills.
\n
• California Bar admission preferred.
\n
