Laboratory Technician (Overnight Shift)

Laboratory Technician Continental Night Shift: 4:00 PM–4:00 AM Schedule: 12‑hour continental rotation — 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off Role Overview: The Laboratory Technician supports testing, analysis, and engineering development activities for data center and hydraulic products. This is a hands‑on, mechanically focused role requiring strong technical aptitude, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑project lab environment. Responsibilities: Product testing — Perform testing and analysis on data center and hydraulic products following established procedures. Equipment operation — Operate mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical lab systems. Sample preparation — Prepare, label, and document samples accurately. Data collection — Record and report test data with high accuracy. Metrology tools — Use calipers and precision instruments to verify test conditions. Machinery maintenance — Perform routine maintenance and safely use hand tools and heavy equipment. Engineering support — Execute test plans and assist with analysis. Data acquisition — Set up and operate systems to capture and monitor test parameters. Troubleshooting — Diagnose equipment or procedural issues to ensure reliable test outcomes. Safety compliance — Follow lab procedures, safety rules, and quality assurance practices. Math calculations — Perform calculations needed for setups and reporting. Documentation — Use Word, Excel, and Outlook for procedures, results, and communication. Teamwork — Work independently and collaboratively in a tight‑knit lab team. Time management — Meet testing schedules, training goals, and project deadlines. Training progression — Participate in Training Matrix activities and demonstrate skill growth. Essential Skills: High school diploma. 4–8 years of experience in laboratory, manufacturing, or technical environments. Intermediate knowledge of product lines (data centers, hoses, couplings, belts, tensioners). Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools and heavy equipment. Understanding of mechanical lab test equipment and metrology tools. Familiarity with manufacturing, lab, or quality assurance environments. High attention to detail and procedural accuracy. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and procedural issues. Ability to set up and use data acquisition systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills. Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Ability to meet Training Matrix objectives. Demonstrated potential to grow into senior technician, trainer, or SME roles. Interest in engineering support and deeper involvement in test analysis. Comfort working in a highly collaborative, supportive team environment. Motivation to progress based on experience and performance rather than formal education alone. Work Environment: Laboratory supporting multiple projects and locations. High noise levels in the Impulse Lab (hearing protection required). Safety shoes and eye protection required in designated areas. Strong emphasis on safety, equipment care, and proper procedures.
