Job Title: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Location: 886 US-17, Palatka, FL 32177
Pay Rate: $60.00–$72.00/hr W2
Duration: 3-Month Contract (Possible Extension)

Work Schedule

  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Schedule will be flexed to provide site-wide coverage , including weekends , with scheduled days off during the week.
  • Candidates must be flexible to work assigned shifts based on business needs.

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to provide leadership and support for plant-wide EHS programs in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring OSHA and environmental compliance, driving a strong safety culture, leading risk reduction initiatives, conducting investigations, supporting regulatory programs, and partnering with plant leadership to promote continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Environmental, Health & Safety programs throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Conduct facility inspections and identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and occupational incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, company safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement risk reduction strategies using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Manage safety documentation, permits, regulatory reporting, and corporate EHS databases (GAIA, Gensuite, monthly reports, etc.).
  • Lead safety committee meetings and promote employee engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Support industrial hygiene programs, workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, and behavioral safety initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure safety is incorporated into new equipment, capital projects, and process improvements.
  • Monitor plant safety performance, analyze data, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support contractor safety programs and ensure compliance while on-site.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and 3–4 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience .
  • Experience supporting EHS programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment .
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations , workplace safety, compliance training, and risk assessment.
  • Experience conducting accident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee safety training.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and influence teams without direct authority.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing Environmental, Health & Safety experience.
  • Experience with GAIA, Gensuite, WCM (World Class Manufacturing), 5S , or similar EHS systems.
  • Experience leading safety committees or cross-functional EHS initiatives.
  • EPA Title V Method 9 Certification (or ability to obtain).

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to industrial equipment, dust, noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to spend significant time on the production floor.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs/ladders, bend, twist, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs .
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Occasional overtime, weekend, holiday work, and limited travel may be required.
