Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Cardiology)

Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM start) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holiday flexibility required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown unit managing cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic, and general cardiac patients including post-op CABG, CHF, AFib with RVR, chest tubes, pacemakers, and ablations
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, Lasix, Bumex, Primacor, and Vaprosol
• Read and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitoring system
• Manage patients on BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, and high-flow oxygen
• Support high patient throughput with fast room turnover; expect 12–16 discharges and admissions on busy shifts within an average census of 32–38 patients
• Float to ICU as needed to manage stepdown-level patients; may assist with tasks in the ICU if not carrying ICU-level assignment

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of stepdown experience in an acute care setting (required without exception)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Proficiency or willingness to learn pacer wire removal
• Experience with Meditech EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification preferred
• ICU experience preferred for expanded floating eligibility
• Familiarity with cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patient populations including CABG, CEA, EVARS, and AAA repair
