Job Summary El Paso Water Utilities is seeking an Industrial Electrician to design, install, fabricate, maintain and repair industrial electrical systems at water and wastewater treatment facilities. The position requires a combination of technical expertise, supervisory skills, and adherence to city and department policies. Employment Details Salary: $54,884.34 – $84,412.11 annually Location: Various Locations within the City of El Paso, TX Job Type: Civil Service (Non‑Exempt) Job Number: 18604‑0326 Department: El Paso Water Utilities Opening Date: 03/26/2026 Closing Date: 04/07/2026 11:59 PM Mountain Maximum Number of Applicants: 75 Responsibilities Lead, plan, train, schedule, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining electrical and control systems. Design, install, fabricate, maintain, construct, operate, repair and test motors, motor control centers, pumps, fans, blowers, pump lift stations, conveyors, screening equipment, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), emergency generators, photovoltaic systems, switchgear and transfer switches. Maintain lighting systems, conduits, wiring, fuses, mast arms and fixtures. Operate and supervise use of testing and pneumatic tools, compressors, wire‑pulling devices, conduit bending equipment, power tools, hand tools, aerial lift equipment and other specialized equipment. Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls and coordinate electrical service needs with other trades, vendors, contractors and departments. Develop and revise electrical plans, designs and layouts; read and interpret schematics, blueprints, symbols and markings. Apply preventive maintenance programs, troubleshoot electrical systems, perform scheduled maintenance and design maintenance procedures for industrial equipment. Ensure compliance with city and department policies, safety standards, permits and regulations. Supervise employees: assign, schedule, guide, monitor, appraise, provide training, counsel, motivate and resolve staff differences. Qualifications MOS Code: 12R (Army), 5699 (Navy), 15L (Army), 2A616 (Air Force) Education: High School diploma or GED; three (3) years of journey‑level industrial electrician experience in an industrial environment, water or wastewater treatment facility. Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class “C” Driver’s License (or equivalent). Journeyman Electrician License required upon application.
