Video Editor Location: Remote – South Africa Salary: R18,000 – R23,000 per month Working Hours: Monday – Thursday: 10:00am – 6:00pm UK time Friday: 10:00am – 4:00pm UK time About the Client Our client is a growing UK-based business operating within the hospitality, leisure and live entertainment space. They work with a range of exciting brands and create engaging digital content designed to connect with audiences across social media. They are looking for a creative and highly skilled Video Editor who understands both professional video production and the fast-moving world of social media content. Role Overview We are looking for a talented Video Editor with at least 2 years of professional video editing experience to join the team. This role is ideal for someone who can combine high-quality professional editing, motion graphics and animation with a strong understanding of what performs on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels. The successful candidate will need to understand current social media trends, including video styles, editing techniques, music, trending sounds and formats, and know how to adapt these trends into engaging content. You will work across a variety of content styles, from polished and professional video edits to more natural, lo-fi TikTok and Instagram Reels-style UGC content. Key Responsibilities Edit high-quality video content for social media and digital marketing campaigns. Produce polished, professional edits with strong pacing, transitions, motion graphics and animation. Create engaging TikTok and Instagram Reels content that feels natural and native to the platform. Edit lo-fi and UGC-style content while maintaining a high-quality and engaging finish. Stay up to date with current TikTok and Instagram trends, including popular video formats, editing styles, transitions, music and trending audio. Have a strong understanding of how different types of content perform across social platforms. Select and incorporate appropriate music, sounds and audio trends into video content. Add motion graphics, animation, text overlays, captions and other visual elements where appropriate. Take raw footage and turn it into engaging, creative and platform-appropriate content. Work from creative briefs while also bringing your own ideas and creativity to the editing process. Adapt content for different platforms, audiences and formats. Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a consistently high standard of work. Work collaboratively with the wider creative and marketing team. Requirements Requirements 2+ years of professional video editing experience. Strong experience creating content specifically for TikTok and Instagram Reels. Excellent understanding of current TikTok trends, video styles, music and trending audio. Strong knowledge of CapCut. Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro. Strong knowledge of Adobe After Effects. Demonstrable experience with motion graphics and animation. Agency experience. (Editing multiple videos per day in a fast-paced environment) Strong understanding of video pacing, storytelling, transitions, sound design and visual composition. Ability to create both high-end professional edits and more authentic, lo-fi UGC-style social content. A strong creative eye and excellent attention to detail. Ability to take direction while also contributing your own creative ideas. A strong portfolio or examples of previous video editing work, particularly social media content. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who lives and breathes social media content and understands what makes people stop scrolling. You should be able to look at a TikTok trend, understand why it works, identify the relevant editing style, audio or format, and then apply that thinking creatively to new content. At the same time, you should have the technical ability to produce professional-level editing, motion graphics and animation when a more polished finish is required. We are therefore looking for someone who can comfortably move between: Professional / polished video editing → Motion graphics and animation → High-quality branded content → Trending TikTok formats → Instagram Reels → Lo-fi / UGC-style content → Fast-paced social-first editing Software Essential: CapCut Adobe Premiere Pro Adobe After Effects Portfolio A portfolio is essential for this role.
