Cactus Racks is looking for a dependable, motivated Line or Prep Cook who takes pride in quality food, works well under pressure, and understands the pace of a busy kitchen. We serve Chicago-inspired comfort food and elevated bar favorites in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where consistency and execution matter.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working hard, staying organized, and being part of a strong kitchen team. The right candidate shows up on time, communicates well, moves with urgency, and cares about putting out great food every shift.

Responsibilities Prep Cook - No Experience necessary

• Execute service with speed, consistency, and attention to detail

• Set up, stock, and maintain a clean and organized station

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards

• Work closely with kitchen Staff

• Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control

• Assist with prep work including chopping, portioning, and sauce preparation

• Properly label, store, and rotate food using FIFO standards

• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils throughout the shift

• Strong knife skills and understanding of food preparation techniques

Expected Hours: Approximately 15-25 hrs per week - Afternoon/ Early evening and some Saturdays

Qualifications

• Previous line cook experience preferred, ideally in a full-service restaurant

• Experience working grills, fryers, and flat tops

• Strong knife skills and understanding of food preparation techniques

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

• Ability to stay focused and efficient during busy service periods

• Reliable attendance and punctuality

• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills

• Pride in producing high-quality food consistently

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected Hours: Approximately 15-30 hrs per week
