Warehouse Supervisor

Supervise, lead, and actively participate in daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, picking, packing, inventory handling, and workflow coordination. This position is a hands-on leadership role that requires the supervisor to regularly work on the warehouse floor alongside warehouse personnel to ensure productivity, safety, accuracy, and operational efficiency. The Warehouse Supervisor is expected to maintain a visible presence within the warehouse and actively assist with operational tasks as business demands require.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Actively work on the warehouse floor daily while supervising and supporting warehouse employees in shipping, receiving, picking, packing, stocking, and material handling activities.
• Pick, pack and ship orders according to schedule assignment.
• Monitor orders in both Parcel and LTL work areas, release and sort orders as necessary to maintain expected cut-off times and constant flow of production.
• Maintain a consistent physical presence on the warehouse floor to oversee workflow, monitor productivity, address operational issues, and provide direct support to team members.
• Perform quality assurance throughout the day; observe staffing for adherence to production and assigned work schedule; report findings to management.
• Lead by example through direct involvement in warehouse operations and hands-on assistance during peak workloads, staffing shortages, or operational challenges.
• Research and problem solve adverse situations which arise within the daily workload.
• Train, coach, and support warehouse personnel while reinforcing company policies, procedures, and safety expectations.
• In the absence of the Manager, will take on additional responsibility as the Acting Manager.
• Direct employees to perform necessary tasks based on the work flow and prioritize those tasks effectively.
• Perform other related duties in the warehouse as directed by the Manager or circumstances.
• Regular and prompt attendance at work is a primary function and requirement of this position.

Education

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience

• Five (5) plus years of operations management experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment. Prior experience controlling P&L, helpful.
• Previous experience using the ILS database or similar Warehouse Management Systems would be helpful.

Computer Skills

• Computer literate in a Microsoft Windows environment with the ability to learn new software and application.
• Microsoft Excel – Intermediate level. Must have the ability to perform functions such as creating a spreadsheet, formatting a spreadsheet, using the formula bar to perform various functions, importing/exporting documents, and calculating numbers.
• Microsoft Outlook – Basic level. Must have the ability to perform functions such as composing, sending, forwarding and replying to incoming e-mail, attaching computerized files, and utilizing calendar and task reminders.
• Microsoft Word – Basic level. Must have the ability to perform functions such as composing, editing, naming and saving documents, formatting text, and printing.
• Internet Explorer or other web browsers – Basic level. Must have the ability to perform functions such as navigating through websites via hyperlinks and searching websites using various search engines and boomerang searches.
• General knowledge of how to use a calculator, scanner, copy machine, fax machine, printer, telephone and various standard office equipment.

Other Requirements

• Fluent English speaking and writing skills is required, secondary language skills is a plus.
• Demonstrated Leadership abilities are required.
• Demonstrated Human Relation skills sufficient to communicate performance expectations and motivate and retain staff members.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Primary language used to perform this job is English.
• Knowledge of warehouse safety regulatory standards.
• Safety clothing and/or equipment is required when working in the warehouse environment. Safety clothing includes closed toed shoes and gloves.
• Must be able to pass a background screen.
