Red Rock Center for Independence (RRCI) is seeking a passionate, creative, and community-focused professional to serve as our Independent Living Coordinator – Youth Specialist in St. George, Utah. This position focuses on empowering children and youth with disabilities to build skills, confidence, independence, and community connections through consumer-driven Independent Living services. The role aligns closely with RRCI's Youth Specialist program description and youth-focused Independent Living services.

Position Overview

Position: Independent Living Coordinator – Youth Specialist
Location: St. George, Utah (Serving Washington and Kane Counties)
Schedule: Full-Time, 30 Hours Per Week
Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $18.00–$20.00 per hour, DOE
Reports To: Executive Director or Independent Living Supervisor
Travel: Yes – Local and Regional Travel Required

About the Role

The Independent Living Coordinator – Youth Specialist provides consumer-driven Independent Living services to youth ages 5–24, with a primary emphasis on children ages 5–14. The successful candidate will develop engaging activities and programs that help youth with disabilities build independent living skills, self-advocacy, social connections, community participation, safety awareness, and confidence. The position also assists with transition services and TAPS programming for older youth. This role is consistent with RRCI's youth services model and Independent Living philosophy.

• Youth and families
• Schools and educators
• Head Start and Early Intervention programs
• Child care providers
• Community organizations
• Disability service providers
• Local resource networks throughout Washington and Kane Counties

What You'll Do

Youth Services & Independent Living Planning

• Develop Independent Living Plans (ILPs) with youth and families
• Teach age-appropriate independent living skills
• Help youth set and achieve meaningful goals
• Track outcomes and celebrate progress

Youth Activities & Family Engagement

• Plan and lead educational, recreational, and skill-building activities
• Support early self-advocacy and leadership development
• Encourage community participation and social inclusion
• Engage parents and caregivers as partners in success

Transition & TAPS Programming

• Support transition-age youth preparing for adulthood
• Assist with transition planning and service coordination
• Promote leadership, self-determination, and future planning

Community Outreach

• Build partnerships with schools, agencies, and community organizations
• Increase awareness of Independent Living services
• Participate in community events, coalitions, and outreach opportunities

Peer Mentor Support

• Recruit, coach, and support youth peer mentors
• Help mentors model Independent Living principles
• Foster positive youth leadership opportunities

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, audit-ready records
• Complete documentation within required timelines
• Track outcomes and program participation

Qualifications

Required

• Associate degree in psychology, social work, education, child development, communications, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
• Experience working with children, youth, or individuals with disabilities
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass required background checks

Preferred

• Experience in disability services, social services, education, recreation, or youth programming
• Knowledge of IEP and 504 processes
• Experience working with families and schools
• First Aid certification
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Teams
• Experience coordinating activities, classes, or youth events
