Southwest Suburban Chicago-Retail Manager

We are seeking Manager candidates for Southwest Suburban Chicago including Plainfield, Naperville, Willowbrook, Glen Ellyn, Downers Grove and Bolingbrook. The Retail Manager will assist in developing a Binny’s Beverage Depot team that thrives on teamwork and shares our seven-decade commitment to helping people celebrate the best times of their life. The Retail Manager for Binny's Beverage Depot is expected to lead and assist in all facets of store operations. This includes, but is not limited to, providing excellent guest service, overseeing operational performance for all staff, driving associate development, and promoting product sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Our Retail Managers are responsible for overall store operations including the following:

• Provides strong leadership and oversight throughout the store.
• Creates a welcoming environment for customers and staff members, as well as quickly responding to their inquiries and needs. Provides great customer service.
• Identify individual staff strengths and opportunity areas. Create developmental plans to prepare staff for future growth.
• Timely administration of Human Resources related tasks, including staff performance reviews, disciplinary documentation, and required training checklists.
• Responsible for generating sales, handling difficult and/or complicated transactions, and positive customer/staff interactions.
• Forecasting and adapting to business, focusing on customer service and productivity to meet sales goals.
• Enforcement of carding procedures to ensure safe and legal sales of alcohol and tobacco.
• Identify opportunities to drive customer traffic into the store through interactions e.g., tastings, events, etc.
• Help maintain appropriate staffing levels by continuous applicant review, in addition to internal staff development. Hiring, training, and coaching of store associates and department leads.
• Prioritize, plan, and adjust schedules as necessary to maximize sales and productivity.
• Enforce all company policies and procedures, including health, safety, and security.
• Actively participate in further product training and educational opportunities.
• Time management and task management for staff.
• Ordering and maintaining product and inventory.
• Meeting and exceeding sales and service goals.
• Being an ambassador for the Binny's brand.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years in a management role with a big box retail operation or beverage retailer.
• Has managed a staff of 20+ associates.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Financial and Business Acumen: Ability to evaluate financial and business data, utilizing information in planning and forecasting for the operation.
• Problem Solving & Decision Quality: Ability to identify and solve problems with effective solutions.
• Relationship Management: Ability to build constructive and productive relationships with customers, team members, and vendors.
• Planning and Priority Setting: Demonstrate an ability to set objectives and goals and organize work appropriately to meet and exceed goals.
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
• Experience with hiring, training, payroll, scheduling.
• Experience with ordering, inventory and sales.
• Prefer an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field.

Additional Qualifications (Essential Job Functions):

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as scheduled.
• Ability to count cash and make change accurately.
• Ability to operate business machines (scanners, computer keyboards, etc.).
• Ability to pass any applicable alcohol training class and maintain a current certification card.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 40-50 pounds.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and managers.
• Ability to follow directions and complete assignments.
• Ability to write legibly.
• Ability to read small type.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to repeatedly walk up and down stairs.
• Ability to work in cold areas.
• Ability to work hours as scheduled.
• Consistent and regular attendance.

**Pay range for this position is $65k-$95k based on experience.
