About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled SolidWorks Technician / Mechanical CAD Technician to support our engineering and manufacturing operations.

This position is focused primarily on SolidWorks modeling, drafting, assemblies, revisions, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly proficient with SolidWorks and can quickly turn engineering concepts, sketches, measurements, and existing designs into accurate, production-ready CAD models and drawings.

A four-year engineering degree is not required for this position. Candidates may qualify through either a SolidWorks certification or at least two years of demonstrated professional SolidWorks experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D mechanical models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
• Modify existing parts, assemblies, and drawings based on engineering requirements.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Update drawings and CAD models based on engineering changes.
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions and design documentation.
• Convert sketches, measurements, photographs, and engineering concepts into CAD models.
• Assist engineers with mechanical design and documentation.
• Prepare CAD files for manufacturing, machining, fabrication, and prototyping.
• Support prototype and production activities.
• Work with engineers and manufacturing personnel to resolve drawing and design issues.
• Verify dimensions, fit, clearances, and assembly relationships.
• Organize and maintain SolidWorks files and related engineering documentation.
• Assist with design revisions and continuous improvement of existing products.

Required Qualifications

One of the following is required:

SolidWorks certification, OR

At least 2 years of demonstrated professional experience using SolidWorks.

Additional requirements:

• Strong practical knowledge of SolidWorks.
• Ability to create and modify 3D parts and assemblies.
• Ability to produce clear and accurate technical drawings.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and dimensions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to work full-time on-site.

Preferred Qualifications

• SolidWorks Certified Associate (CSWA).
• SolidWorks Certified Professional (CSWP).
• Experience with manufacturing drawings.
• Experience with sheet metal design.
• Experience with machined or fabricated components.
• Experience with assemblies and mechanical mechanisms.
• Familiarity with GD&T.
• Experience supporting engineers or manufacturing teams.
• Experience with CNC machining, fabrication, 3D printing, or prototyping.
• Experience designing electromechanical or robotic systems.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strong SolidWorks user first and foremost. You should be comfortable opening an existing assembly, understanding how the components fit together, making design changes, and producing accurate drawings and models that another person can use to manufacture or assemble the product.

This position is well suited for an experienced SolidWorks user who may have developed their skills through professional experience, technical training, certification, or hands-on engineering and manufacturing work.
