PAC (Power, Automation & Controls) Technician

Overview The PAC (Power, Automation & Controls) Technician will be a technical SME tasked with inventory movement and maintenance, data management, statistical analysis of equipment performance, robotic troubleshooting, PLC program troubleshooting, component programming, instrumentation troubleshooting, and assisting the operations with systemic moves all within the Distribution Warehouse. The environment in which this team member will be working will be mostly spent in a control room but will be trained in team member responsibilities to assist in all hands‑on deck situations. The tasks associated with interfacing with the Warehouse Execution System and Warehouse Control System are mission critical for the day‑to‑day business. Responsibilities Strong technical background to troubleshoot and eliminate tough problems and implement new solutions. Manage and coordinate warehouse systems events through WMS or WES. Execute and run weekly to monthly reports on equipment performance and deliver to the Power Automation and Controls Engineering Manager. Handle level 1 events and outages with WMS or WES and escalates to the proper channels. Handle level 1 to 2 events and outages with robotic equipment, PLC controls, HMI visualization, instrumentation, motion drive equipment failures or replacements. Comfortable troubleshooting PLC application code in ladder logic, function block or structured text. Comfortable troubleshooting visualization screens (HMI, Thin Clients) in FTView Studio, Ignition, etc. Work in environments requiring Arc Flash Protection PPE for low voltage environments (≤480VAC 3 phase). Capable of moving compliant and non‑compliant product in a systematic and controlled fashion. Primary point of contact for Cold Storage warehouse inventory, including cycle counts, recalls and inventory reconciliation. Coordinate disaster recovery processes with operations team. Perform clean inspection, lubrication, autonomous maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks on automation equipment. Develop Root Cause Analysis and drive work in systematic and structured form. Customer Relations Work with a diverse team to drive out losses and improve performance. Cross‑disciplinary team includes Industrial Engineers, Operations Managers, Operator Techs, Maintenance Techs, Food Safety and Environmental Health & Safety. Possess intimate knowledge of customers and put others above oneself. Value both relationships and results. Soft Skills Capable of learning in a dynamic, complex environment. Aptitude for communicating insights and collaborating across teams. Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs, confined spaces, elevated positions. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills. Capable of working rotating shifts, potentially only evening shifts. Stand on concrete floors for extended periods. Proficient communicating in English to safely follow instructions, complete documentation and interpret company communications. Technical Skills Run statistical reports on platforms like Excel. Adept in Microsoft Software Suite. Diagnose losses by analyzing ladder logic or structured text code (including Python, C#, etc.) and improve through a structured change management process. Beginner to intermediate experience on ladder logic, function block and structured text in Rockwell platforms. Beginner to intermediate experience developing HMI screens in FTView Machine Edition and Site Edition. Interpret and analyze single line diagrams, P&IDs and equipment electrical prints.
