Facilities & Maintenance Technician

The Facilities & Maintenance Technician supports daily operations by performing repairs, coordinating third-party service providers, and managing the maintenance and pre-safety startup of new machines and equipment across office, production, and shipping and receiving areas. This role ensures that facility systems and production equipment operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, replacements, and routine maintenance on machines, equipment, and facility systems to support daily operations in office, production, and shipping and receiving areas.
• Coordinate and schedule repairs and maintenance with external contractors and vendors when specialized or third-party services are required.
• Conduct pre-safety startup checks and validations on new machines and equipment to ensure they meet operational and safety requirements before use.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility-related issues to quickly identify root causes and restore equipment to proper working condition.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and maintain consistent performance.
• Support and participate in OSHA and safety committee activities to promote a safe working environment and adherence to safety policies.
• Manage or assist with regulatory inspections and facility compliance activities to ensure alignment with applicable standards and guidelines.
• Utilize a CMMS or maintenance tracking system to document work orders, track maintenance history, and plan future maintenance activities.
• Collaborate closely with production and other departments to minimize disruption during maintenance activities and to prioritize critical tasks.
• Work within a GMP, SQF, FDA-regulated manufacturing environment, following established procedures and documentation requirements.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
• At least three years of maintenance experience in a facility or manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility systems.
• Experience working with outside contractors and vendors for repairs and maintenance services.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance programs on production and facility equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment; food, flavor, chemical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
• 7–10+ years of maintenance and facilities experience within manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Experience with OSHA requirements and participation in safety committee activities.
• Experience managing regulatory inspections and facility compliance activities.
• Experience using a CMMS or maintenance tracking system.
• Strong electrical, maintenance technician, and troubleshooting skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with welding, electrical components, and HVAC is a plus.
• Familiarity with food packaging equipment and a food industry background is highly preferred.
• HVAC certification preferred.
• CPR/AED certification preferred.
• Experience working in environments governed by GMP, SQF, and FDA standards.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a small, close-knit environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Maryland Heights, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
