The UW Medical Center - Harborview has an outstanding leaderships opportunity for a Director of Surgical Services Clinical Operations.

• This position is expected to take rotating call with other leaders in the department. ?

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The General Surgery Clinic at Harborview provides consultation for general and surgical conditions, as well as pre- and post-operative follow-up for patients with traumatic injuries, wound management and suture removal.

We also perform minor operations in our specially equipped ambulatory procedures area including cyst and skin tag removals, incision and drainage of abscesses, rigid sigmoidoscopies and hemorrhoid evaluation and management. Following an initial consultation, these procedures will usually be scheduled for a subsequent visit.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directing, Managing, and Coordinating all clinical and operational aspects of Harborview's: operating rooms, Pre and post anesthesia, pre-anesthesia clinic. and all ancillary support programs. Maximize OR capacity and block utilization.

• Remove barriers that may prevent expansion or volume growth.

• Participate in hospital level business development activities to shape reasonable targets, expectations and strategic opportunities surrounding perioperative care.

• Monitor and maintain the performance practice standards and work with an interdisciplinary team to ensure that defined targets and performance standards are met.

• Meet or exceed all key performance indicators established for the OR by enforcing industry recognized practices for staff and physician workflows.

• Assure that the activities within the operating room follow local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

• Participate in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Infection Control Program. Participate in budget development and monitoring.Recruit, retain and hire qualified candidates.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

• Master of Science in Nursing or related field.

• Five or more years in senior leadership experience in a hospital based surgical service department. Have/obtain a WA state RN license or MSL.
