Location: San Antonio, TX (Hybrid)

Role Overview

The primary responsibility of a Fraud Specialist I will be to complete all the necessary forms and paperwork involving fraud claims and notifications and work fraud alerts requiring research. Duties also include receiving incoming calls from members, fraud victims, and internal employees, and taking action to resolve issues and requests for assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to all inbound phone calls, upholding service level agreements, member experience, and company policies and procedures.
• Process actionable alerts and fraud notifications, conducting research into these alerts as needed.
• Analyze and validate Identity Theft claims and other fraud claims as they arise.
• Review accounts and transactions for fraud activity and take appropriate action, such as restraining an account, to prevent fraud losses.
• Assist members with fraud alerts and work with them in order to resolve issues.
• Collect and report suspicious activity information utilizing Suspicious Activity Reports and documented organization processes.
• Review membership information and identification documents when there are discrepancies or irregularities to determine the validity of information.
• Resolve fraud claims in accordance with government regulations such as CC and E/Z.
• Accurately record data and remarks utilizing spreadsheets and notes on alerts.
• Keep abreast of current fraud trends in the financial services industry as well as different types of fraud schemes.
• Monitor and make decisions on alerts in Actimize, FraudNet, Salesforce, AFS/EWS, and other fraud tools with accuracy and take appropriate action to prevent fraud losses.

Required Qualifications

An equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.


Education: A High School Degree is required.

Experience: Basic knowledge of banking or credit union operations is preferred. Prior fraud experience is required.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Basic knowledge of fraud types and schemes is also required. The role requires excellent oral and writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• An Associate's Degree is preferred.

Schedule

Candidates must be available for both the training and post-training schedules.

• Training Schedule (First 4 Weeks): Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
• Post-Training Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10:00am-7:00pm (with Tuesday or Wednesday off), and Saturday from 8:00am-4:30pm
