ICU Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Job Summary and Qualifications The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver high quality, patient-centered care.

• Represents the organization positively within the community; participates in company-supported community/patient events and in-services.
• Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines. Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
• Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
• Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
• Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

About the Unit:

• 20 bed Intensive Care Unit
• Patient to Nurse ratio 2:1
• Caring for a variety of ICU patients with a focus on open heart
• Stroke Certified Unit
• Collaborate closely with the Eye Bank and Tissue and Organ Alliance
• The culture on this unit includes a strong sense of teamwork, support, education, empowerment and fun!
• The team is proud to actively precept nursing students from several institutions, most of whom graduate and return to the team as an RN

What is required:

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associate or baccalaureate degree in nursing required
• BSN preferred
• Minimum of 1 year working as a Registered Nurse (RN) required
• 3 years of RN experience in an ICU setting preferred
• Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse required. If Compact RN license, must have TX RN license within 90 days of hire.
