Paraprofessional Job Description

Paraprofessionals assist students and teachers to help ensure a smooth, productive school day. This often includes performing a mix of clerical, academic and behavior-management-related tasks. Some paraprofessional job description includes:

Implement instructional plans provided by the supervising teacher
Create and oversee behavior-management plans
Transport students
Supervise students in the classroom and during certain out-of-classroom activities
Tutor students and assist in small group learning exercises
Help with admin tasks such as copying and filing papers, taking attendance and preparing lessons for teachers
Collaborate with other educational professionals to meet students' needs
Some trainings through our special education department will occur
Assist with more generalized school activities, like assemblies, cafeteria and recess
Participate in lesson planning meetings and special education assessments
Work and support special education students
