Controls EngineerLocation - LNS America IncFull-Time/Part-Time - Full-TimeSummary: We are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop, integrate, troubleshoot, and improve industrial control systems for the machine tool industry. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLC-based automation, electrical controls, industrial networking, AutoCAD documentation, and machine commissioning.This position will work closely with machine tool OEMs, electrical and mechanical engineering teams, manufacturing, maintenance, and customers to improve machine performance, reliability, functionality, and maintainability.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:Assist with designing, developing, and modifying/testing industrial control systems, including PLC, HMI, and related automation equipment.Develop and maintain control-system electrical documentation and interface drawings using AutoCAD.Create electrical schematics, I/O drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and equipment interface drawings.Design and implement Ethernet-based interfaces between PLCs, HMIs, drives, remote I/O, and other industrial control equipment.Configure and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, or similar networks.Test/modify PLC programs, HMI applications, and control-system logic as required.Support controls integration for automated manufacturing equipment and robot cells.Work directly with machine tool OEMs to identify, develop, and implement machine improvements.Collaborate with OEMs on control-system upgrades, modifications, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.Evaluate machine performance and recommend controls improvements to increase uptime, efficiency, reliability, cycle-time performance, and maintainability.Troubleshoot electrical, controls, networking, and communication issues during machine startup and production.Support machine commissioning, startup, testing, and validation at customer and manufacturing locations.Develop and maintain I/O lists, network architecture drawings, control-panel documentation, and system specifications.Select and specify controls components, including PLCs, network switches, sensors, relays, drives, safety devices, and other automation hardware.Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure proper equipment interfaces and system functionality.Assist with machine upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.Provide technical support to manufacturing, maintenance, and field service teams.Follow applicable electrical, safety, and engineering standards.Position Requirements - Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.Experience in the machine tool or manufacturing industry preferred.Proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical schematics and equipment interface drawings.Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems.Strong understanding of Ethernet-based industrial communications and networking.Ability to read and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control-panel documentation.Strong electrical, controls, and troubleshooting skills.EOE Statement - We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
