Director of Nursing (DON)

Full-Time | Exempt | Leadership Role

We are seeking an experienced and decisive Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the Nursing Services Department and ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and resident-centered care. This role is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the facility and plays a critical role in regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and quality outcomes. This position is ideal for a strong nurse leader who values accountability, structure, and consistent standards of care.

Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, develop, and direct all nursing services in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Provide clinical leadership and oversight to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nursing supervisors
• Ensure compliance with survey readiness, quality measures, and regulatory requirements
• Develop, maintain, and enforce nursing policies and procedures
• Oversee staffing levels, scheduling practices, and nursing assignments
• Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
• Participate in surveys, audits, investigations, and plan-of-correction development
• Review clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
• Collaborate with physicians, administration, and interdisciplinary teams
• Participate in admissions, care planning, discharges, and PASARR processes
• Monitor incident reports, medication errors, and corrective action plans
• Recruit, train, evaluate, and discipline nursing staff as needed

Qualifications
• Current, active RN license in the state
• Prior Director of Nursing or senior nursing leadership experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and clinical standards
• Proven leadership, decision-making, and staff management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills

Physical Requirements
• Standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility
• Participation in clinical environments as needed
• Exposure to healthcare settings and equipment
