Licensed Practical Nurse

LPN Position

The LPN functions under the supervision and guidance of the Nursing Supervisor or Provider and participates in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and treatment to patients. The LPN reports directly to the site manager. The LPN is responsible for functioning within the scope of practice dictated by the authority of the Illinois Board of Nursing. Individuals must be able to manage a demanding workload with accuracy. The position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, their families, other staff and providers.

Essential duties and responsibilities include: assisting the provider with patient office visits, obtaining and checking for informed consent, checking for the presence of allergies and reconciling medications, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies, understanding quality measure guidelines, administering immunizations, working their assigned clinical inbox, training new hires/students, initiating referrals to community agencies, assisting other nursing staff with organizing and stocking supplies and medications, functioning within the legal and ethical parameters of nursing care, attending continuing education programs, identifying problem areas with supervisor, and approaching each situation with a positive attitude.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: working with the public and health care professionals, communicating clearly, possessing knowledge of medical terminology, possessing sound judgment, basic operational knowledge of a computer, being results oriented and a team player, being neat and professional in appearance, and having the ability to multitask.

Education and experience: Must be a graduate of an accredited program for LPN and hold a current license to practice in the State of Illinois. Must have current CPR certification. Ambulatory care experience preferred.

Physical demands: Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a clinical nature. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work schedule: Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday dayshift, unless otherwise specified by management staff.
