Vascular Access Tech – Phlebotomy

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods including capillary, venous, assisted line, and arterial collections across all age groups, in strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures.
• Provide rapid response to medical emergencies across general patient care areas, pediatrics, the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, and Operating Rooms.
• Ensure accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation, as well as accurate specimen testing using Point of Care (POC) equipment.
• Utilize strong customer relations and communication skills when interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Assist with training students and new employees as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a Phlebotomy training program that includes a clinical rotation, OR a minimum of three (3) months of Phlebotomy experience.
• National Phlebotomy Certification (e.g., NHA, ASCP, or equivalent) must be obtained within 14 months of hire date.
• Ability to work with a variety of computer programs and systems.
• Ability to push a cart and walk distances throughout the facility.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in a fast-paced clinical or hospital environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
