You'll provide expert installation, maintenance, and repair services for sophisticated analytical and microscopy equipment. Working with advanced technology, you'll deliver outstanding technical support while building strong relationships with customers across research institutions, universities, and industrial facilities. Location

This is a remote role based in the SF Bay Area, CA and will require up to 75% travel within the designated territory and up to 25% within the West Coast. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided.

A Day in the Life

• Perform on-site installation, preventive maintenance, and repair support for Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry equipment at customer labs

• Handle personal parts inventories, complete job tasks and complete service reports using service ticket management software

• Train customers in equipment and software

• Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer

• Regularly attend factory provided technical and service training on newest innovative products developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific

• Must be team focused while working in conjunction with Service and Sales teams

• Review customer data and run factory protocols to troubleshoot instrumentation

• Share diagnostic information with engineering, factory, field service, management, and other personnel to expedite repairs

Keys to Success

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related technical field and 5+ years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting and repairing complex analytical instruments or Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for hardware and software issues

• Demonstrated expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems, high voltage electronics, and complex electro-mechanical systems

• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings

• Experience documenting service activities and preparing detailed reports

• Effectively train and support customers with equipment operation

• Adherence to safety protocols and quality standards

• Experience mentoring and training others preferred

• Demonstrated success in meeting customer satisfaction goals

• Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal

• Strong organizational and time management capabilities

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and service management software

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various laboratory environments

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $43.70-$55.00.
