Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to Veterans in accordance with VA standards and Joint Commission requirements. Conduct and document patient assessments accurately and promptly. Administer medications, monitor responses, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Participate in patient care planning and discharge coordination. Adhere to all patient safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA/Privacy Act). Maintain accurate electronic medical records (CPRS/VistA systems). Respond effectively to emergencies and manage critical care interventions. Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and accountability at all times. Qualifications Required: Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. State or Territory. Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE). Minimum 2 years of emergency room experience within the last 5 years. BLS and ACLS certifications (must be current). Ability to pass background investigation and credentialing through VetPro. TB test within the last 12 months and negative drug screening. Preferred: Experience in VA or federal healthcare settings. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (VistA/CPRS). Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Training Requirements Completion of New Employee Orientation (NEO) at MEDVAMC before starting. Completion of all VHA‑mandated online trainings, including Privacy, HIPAA, and Information Security. Ongoing competency assessments and skills validations as required by VA.
