Health Aide

Job Title Health Aide Department Owasso Schools Reports To Principal/Director of Safety and Security Employment Status Non-Exempt, 9‑month contract, 7‑hour day (plus 3 professional development days) Summary Provide support and assistance with the efficient operation of the health offices in the district and support district nurses, teachers, administration, and students as needed. The Health Aide works under the direct supervision of the assigned Registered Nurse, Lead Nurse, and site principal. Essential Functions Utilize standards of care and first aid training in caring for students and staff, including: Collecting data in compliance with health services standards and following nurse instructions Administering, documenting, and inventorying medications in compliance with health services standards Communicating appropriately with the supervising nurse Compiling data as directed Providing care within the scope of practice and position limitations Utilizing appropriate problem‑solving skills and accurately performing approved job skills Prioritize and organize completion of job responsibilities Maintain accurate records Support health services goals through continuous quality improvement and educational activities Participate appropriately in district safety activities Maintain confidentiality of students and staff Adapt quickly to changes in assignment and respond to complaints effectively Maintain harmonious rapport and collaborate cooperatively with district staff, students, and the public while achieving job objectives Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education and Experience High School diploma or General Education Development diploma Certified Nursing Assistant or certification in a health‑related field Minimum one year in a health care setting preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Microsoft Office and general computer literacy Excellent written and oral communication Strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and laws applicable to education and special education Ability to follow all district policies and procedures Independent work ethic, initiative, and enthusiasm Team player with strong communication abilities Accurate documentation and management of confidential information Effective listening skills Certified in Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid Knowledge of universal precautions and basic data collection (vital signs) Familiarity with respiratory safety equipment and wound care procedures Medication administration skills and knowledge of emergency medications Diabetes care in accordance with ADA and Oklahoma State Department of Health guidelines Physical Demands The employee regularly stands, sits, walks, and may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Close and color vision, and the ability to adjust focus are required. Work Environment The work environment is primarily indoors, with some exposure to outdoor conditions.
