May spray roofs, sidings, and walls with material to bind, seal, insulate, or soundproof sections of structures. Supervise and mentor laborers and roofers on the job, and drive company vehicle to multiple job sites each day.RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The lists below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Minimum QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or G.E.D preferredYears of Experience: 3+ years of commercial roofing experienceDriver's License Required with clean driving recordMust be able to pass a background check for high security clearanceKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of safety techniques and procedures to set up a safety plan including toolbox talks, safety huddlesCalculate and control labor projections, material storage, and material needsAbility to read shop drawings, reproduce manufacturing details, and layout roofs and wallsKnowledge of how to cut, shape, fit, join, and install edge metal, insulation, ice & water shields, wood, or other construction materialsCalculate stretch outs to maximize materials and run material inventoryAbility to read and use tape measure, mark, or record distancesKnowledge of how to install pipe boots, ridge/hip caps, rake, nail base, valley, eave lock, and ice & water shieldKnowledge of how to install counter flashing, coping, fascia, gutters, miters, downspouts, roof curbs, flat lock, and thru-wall flashingKnowledge of how to install crickets, chimney flashing, curbs, and how to make seaming and horizontal and vertical solderingGeneral knowledge of construction materials and tools involved in the assembly, installation, or repair of roofing structuresAbility to fulfill paperwork requirements: timesheets, shop requisitions, and job reportsInterpersonal and leadership skills with ability to work on a team and take corrective action when necessaryAbility to train and supervise the crew and subcontractors as needed in order to meet the quality and production goalsAbility to organize, plan, and execute work assignmentsAbility to identify problems and develop solutions in order to accomplish work in a timely mannerAbility to use oral or written communication to convey information effectivelyMeet with GC and customersUse of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problemsEssential FunctionsThoroughly review job file and shop drawing with manager and including the scope of work, materials ordered and delivery schedule, budget for labor productions (man-days), and job site contactsEnsure that proper safety and equipment are on the job and used in the proper manner; Foreman needs to coordinate these needs with the manager but is ultimately responsibleSupervise and support crew every day about safety, quality, and labor productionMonitor and maintain job site cleanliness and daily housekeepingEnsure that all materials received are counted and compared to purchase orderPlan ahead and monitor needs daily to avoid running out of materialsMake sure on-site equipment is monitored and maintained, such as oil changes on kettle motors, belts on cutters, etc.Notify the tool room or garage of any broken or defective equipment before returningReceive manufacturer trainingPrepare and submit daily job reports, field progress problems, technical questions, and timesheets, as directed by managerResponsible for overall quality control of each job including: checking for water tightness, mops left on the roof, ensuring the job site is complete and has been cleaned up properly, coordinate punch list and job close out before crew leaves job site for the last timeReview job performance with manager regarding safety, quality, and budget when job has been completedAttend all coordination planning meetingsInstall, repair, or replace single-ply roofing systems, using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphaltic compositionsCut felt, shingles, and strips of flashing, and fit them into angles formed by walls, vents, and intersecting roof surfacesInstall vapor barriers and/or layers of insulation on the roof decks of flat roofs and seal the seamsCover exposed nail heads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leakage and rustInstall partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces, determining distance of roofing material overlap using chalk lines, gauges on shingling hatchets, or lines on shinglesCovering roofs and exterior walls of structures with slate, single-ply systems, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, and/or related materials, using brushes, knives, punches, hammers, and other toolsOperate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipmentRepair cracks, defects, or damage, using proper materialsApply adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatingsInspect equipment, structures, and materialTrain and coach other employeesEvaluate information to determine compliance with standardsAdhere to company safety policies and proceduresPhysical DemandsRequires standing up for long periods of timeRequires climbing ladders, stairways, scaffolds, or polesRequires considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body in order to climb, lift, balance, walk, and handle materialsRequires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguingRequires seeing details at close rangeRequires repetitive movement, bending or twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping or crawlingRequires ability to stand, walk, lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds regularlyWork EnvironmentRequires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures, including exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortableIncludes exposure to contaminants, hazardous material, or equipmentMistakes are not easily correctable and have serious consequences, therefore safety procedures need to be followedRequires exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stingsRequires exposure to high places or dangerous conditionsDisclaimer:The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
