Sewing Machine Operator in Kansas City

Hours – Full Time M‑F 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Why Should You Apply? $15.00 - $16.00/hr. starting wage based on verified sewing experience – A sewing test will be administered Competitive Wages, plus overtime as needed! Clean, air-conditioned work environment. Summary Operate single needle and/or double needle sewing machines producing American Flags for commercial and government use. Essential Duties Evaluate all raw materials used to ensure supply continuity and all quality specifications are being met. Perform sewing operation according to specifications and customer requirements. Fill out daily production form accurately. Understand the quality standards established for operation being performed. Achieve efficiency goal with good quality of product. Activate and adjust machine controls to regulate stitching speed and length, dimensions of gathers and tucks, and material or thread tension. Activate sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or decorate materials or fabricated articles. Position materials through feed rollers and guides, or position and maneuver under sewing machine presser foot and needle during operation. Examine and measure finished articles to verify conformance to standards, using ruler. Qualifications In order for the individual to succeed in this position, they must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience At least one year of production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. We have many spoken in our production facility, so proficiency in English is not a requirement of the position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
