Position Overview

As a Custodian , you’ll play a key role in maintaining campus buildings and grounds to ensure a clean, professional, and inviting atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. This is a hands‑on position involving a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and safety‑focused tasks.

What You’ll Do

• Clean floors, ramps, and stairways by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
• Service and stock restrooms
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling
• Clean and polish fixtures, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
• Replace light bulbs and report maintenance needs
• Dust furniture, walls, equipment, and machines
• Steam clean and shampoo carpets
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
• Clean, replace, and hang blinds, drapes, and entrance mats
• Mix and prepare cleaning solutions following specifications
• Lock, unlock, and secure buildings while monitoring for safety issues
• Assist with snow removal and clearing sidewalks, driveways, and entrances
• Perform additional duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 6 months or more of cleaning experience
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
• Ability to bend, squat, lift, and pull up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable performing medium to heavy physical work
• Strong customer service mindset and dependable work ethic

Preferred (Not Required):

• Commercial or industrial cleaning experience
• Leadership or supervisory experience
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers

Work Environment

This is a fast‑paced, physically active role. You’ll work across multiple campus locations, including administrative buildings, dorms, halls, and athletic facilities. While the environment may be messy at times, no hazardous materials are involved.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, IN.

The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $15.50/hr.
