Benefits & Work Details Full‑time benefit eligible Work Shift: Day – 8 hour or less shift (United States of America) Department: 7570 Cardiac Cath Lab Qualifications License/Certification: CA RN license, CNOR, BLS, ACLS within one year of hire/transfer. Education: Completion of a recognized RNFA training program. Preferred: BSN, MSN or currently enrolled in an RN‑BSN program. Experience: At least two years of perioperative RN experience, preferably in scrub and circulating roles. Job Responsibilities RN Cardiac First Assistant Assists on all cardiovascular surgical procedures as directed by the surgeon. Functions as the first assistant at surgery in general and obstetric suites. Provides intra‑operative tissue retraction, hemostasis, and manipulation. Uses surgical instruments and suture material to manipulate tissue and assist with intra‑operative wound closure. Performs sutures as directed by the surgeon. Pre‑operative tasks: reviews the procedure, prepares the OR suite, performs pre‑operative counts or patient assessment, assists with anesthesia induction if requested, and positions the patient. Inter‑operative tasks: scrubs in, assists with draping, assists the surgeon within standardized procedures, and assists in counts as needed. Post‑operative tasks: assists with dressing application, patient transfer, accompanies the patient to the PACU if required, and cleans up and turns over the OR. May assist with specialty procedures including minimally invasive vein/arterial harvesting, closure of deep fascia, insertion of invasive monitoring lines, and cardiac sternal wound closure. RN Circulator Assesses patient needs, recognizes abnormal diagnostic data, and communicates information to the surgical team. Modifies assessment criteria based on patient age, psychosocial and physical needs. Implements the patient’s plan of care and adjusts assignments accordingly. Facilitates patient transfer to the appropriate postoperative unit, ensuring safety and communication. Demonstrates proficiency with patient care equipment and instrumentation. Is responsible for medication administration, ensuring accuracy of IVs and other drugs. Maintains clear communication and rapport with patients and families. Provides emotional support and documents progress. Ensures patient hygiene needs are met and the environment is clean and safe. Maintains up‑to‑date medical records and coordinates admission, transfer, and discharge. Demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to the unit or work area, including cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age‑specific needs. Performs other duties as assigned.
