Travel Nurse RN – Operating Room Location: Facility, San Diego, California Employment Type: Travel Start Date: 06/29/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Hours: 36 per week (12‑hour days) Responsibilities Prepare the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional. Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety. Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures and adhere to infection control protocols. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly. Monitor the patient's condition during surgery, document significant changes, and notify the surgeon. Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal per protocol. Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport in accordance with facility protocols. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly. Participate in handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases. Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, following infection control protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards. Follow safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures. Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice. Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC). Preferred Qualifications ACLS, PALS, or ENPC certifications. OR Nursing Certification (CNOR). Other certifications or licenses may be required. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, self‑service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication. Proficient reading, writing, and oral English communication. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and proficiency in PC skills. Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skill to work effectively with diverse personnel. Technical/motor skill for manipulation, propelling, and self‑movement during procedures.
