Technical Recruiter

Description Stevens is a strategic advisory and technology firm that partners with companies on high-impact transformation and technology initiatives. We work closely with executive and technology leaders to solve complex problems and build the teams and systems needed to deliver. We’re looking for an experienced Technical Recruiter to support our team on an hourly, as-needed contract basis as we staff client engagement teams. This is not a full-time position or a salaried role. Work will vary based on our active engagements and hiring needs. We’re looking for someone we can bring in when we need additional recruiting capacity and who can quickly understand a role, find strong candidates, and confidently own the first stage of our screening process. You’ll primarily recruit for software engineering, AI, and technical project management talent , with other technical roles added as our needs evolve. The quality bar is high. We’re looking for someone with enough technical depth to distinguish a strong candidate from someone who simply interviews well. You should be comfortable discussing engineering backgrounds, technical environments, project experience, and the types of work candidates have actually delivered. You’ll work closely with Stevens leadership to understand each staffing need, source and evaluate candidates, conduct initial screening interviews, and advance the strongest candidates to final interviews with our team. What You’ll Do Recruit technical talent for client engagement teams, primarily across software engineering and technical project management Source and engage qualified candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, professional networks, and other channels Review applications and proactively identify candidates who meet the requirements of each role Conduct first-round screening interviews and assess technical background, communication skills, relevant experience, and overall fit Maintain a high screening bar and provide clear recommendations on which candidates should advance Coordinate and schedule final interviews with the Stevens team Keep candidate records, interview notes, and hiring stages organized in our ATS Build relationships with strong candidates who may be a fit for future engagements Help us continuously improve our recruiting and screening process as we scale Contract Structure This is an independent contractor (1099) position paid hourly on an as-needed basis. It is not a full-time or salaried position. Hours will vary based on active recruiting needs. Some periods may involve multiple open searches and more consistent hours, while others may require limited or no support. The selected contractor will be engaged and paid bi-weekly through Deel, with hours worked tracked in Harvest. Payment will be based on approved hours worked during each pay period. The selected candidate will also be required to successfully complete a background check prior to beginning work with Stevens. We’re looking to build a long-term relationship with a recruiter who can become a trusted extension of our team as Stevens grows. Requirements Demonstrated experience recruiting technical talent, particularly software engineers and other senior technology professionals A technical background or sufficient technical fluency to meaningfully evaluate engineering candidates during an initial screen Experience recruiting and screening high-caliber candidates for consulting firms, technology companies, agencies, or similar environments Strong interviewing skills and the judgment to identify both technical capability and strong client-facing communication Comfortable recruiting for contract and project-based roles where staffing needs may change quickly Excellent written and verbal communication Highly organized and able to manage multiple candidates and searches independently Experience working with applicant tracking systems and modern recruiting tools Ability to represent Stevens professionally as one of a candidate’s first interactions with the firm Based in the United States and available during U.S. business hours as needed
