We are looking for a relationship-focused sales professional who is motivated by profitable growth, responsive customer service, and long-term partnerships. 

Position Summary 

The Account Manager develops and grows a territory by earning new business, expanding existing accounts, and helping customers find products and service solutions. This role plans sales activity, builds strong customer and supplier relationships, and works closely with internal teams to support division goals and profitability. 

Essential Responsibilities 

• Close new and repeat profitable sales in support of company and division objectives and territory trading-margin plans. 

• Develop and carry out annual, quarterly, weekly, and daily territory plans focused on customer-share growth, market-share expansion, and margin improvement. 

• Research and introduce products that meet customer needs; prepare and update quotes; make recommendations; and help maintain appropriate inventory levels. 

• Respond promptly and professionally to customer questions, pricing concerns, credit matters, and order issues. 

• Build and strengthen key relationships through regular, purposeful contact with customers and suppliers. 

• Use the company's customer relationship management system to document customer interactions, manage sales activities, track opportunities and follow-up commitments, and maintain accurate account information. 

• Review accounts and make recommendations regarding appropriate credit levels. 

• Partner effectively with Merchandising, Inside Sales, and Operations to support customer service and division profitability. 

Qualifications 

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 

• Three or more years of sales experience preferred, including inside or outside sales. 

• Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) software is preferred. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and current Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 

• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Working knowledge of the market and industry. 

• Strong customer service orientation and the ability to remain effective under pressure. 

• Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across the organization. 

• Strong planning, organization, follow-through, and attention to detail. 

• Confidence delivering presentations and discussing solutions with customers. 

• Approachable, flexible, and adaptable to change. 

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and supplier partners. 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements 

• Work is performed at customer locations and in a professional office environment. 

• The role involves frequent email and telephone contact with customers and extensive driving throughout the assigned territory. 

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
