Registered Nurse - Post-Op/Oncology/Telemetry

Location: Virginia

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, with rotating weekends as scheduled.

Job Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care for patients on a Post-Operative, Oncology, and Telemetry unit. Common diagnoses include general MedSurg patients, post-operative care for laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy, and oncology patients with complications such as neutropenia and infections. Experience with chest tubes, particularly PleurX chest tubes, is highly desired.

Responsibilities:

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings.
• Provide nursing care and support to patients and their families.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Manage care for patients requiring chemotherapy and respiratory treatment.
• Educate patients on post-operative care and oncology management.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Active RN license in Virginia.
• BLS certification required; ONS/ONCC certification in Chemotherapy Biotherapy is a plus.
• Experience in a Post-Op, Oncology, or Telemetry setting with knowledge of titrating Heparin drips and monitoring telemetry.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP is preferred; RT manages respiratory therapies.
