Grade: STA2 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive Position: Yes Supervisor Title: Facilities Project Coordinator The starting salary range for this position is from $27.12 to $29.75 per hour with step progression to $38.01. Duties / Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Minimum of two (2) years in the building trades or grounds maintenance Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota. OR Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job proficiently may be substituted for the above requirements. Nature of Work: Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Project Coordinator, performs a variety of moderately difficult technical building facilities and grounds work. Specifically related to Mankato's downtown Special Service Parking and Maintenance districts. Duties / Responsibilities

Primary Essential Work Functions: Coordinates the use of or uses equipment related to general scheduled maintenance of parking lots/ramps, pedestrian facilities, and lawns, (such as snow blowers, plows, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, pressure washing, gum removal, and sweeping equipment). Coordinates the performance of or performs building scheduled maintenance for mechanical systems, structural systems, general repairs, painting, and housekeeping. Coordinates the performance of or performs the necessary maintenance and repairs to all components of the buildings, parking ramps, lots and sites. Coordinates the performance of or performs the removal, cleaning or replacement of various components of parking district assets. Coordinates or assists in coordinating the Facilities Division scheduled maintenance through assessment management software program. Uses or assists using automated systems for various building functions and parking control equipment. Coordinate and assist with patio and ramp washing using various pressure washing equipment. Trains and works with part-time and/or contract employees. Creates work schedules and work orders for part-time and/or contract employees. Issues citations to vehicles that are not conforming to parking regulations. Operate and maintain gateless parking systems, including pay stations, mobile license plate readers, and data entry software. Understands and implements various safety issues, such as lockout/tagout, confined space, and safety data sheets (SDS). Performs inspections of contract construction projects as assigned. Prepares neat, concise, and accurate documents related to design, construction, contract administration and record drawings. Communicates or assists in communication with internal and external customers formally and informally through written correspondence; individual and group meetings; presentations; website updates; and telephone. Assists in providing training, instruction, guidance and oversight of all contractor, contracted, seasonal or temporary staff working in the parking division. Other Work Functions: Performs physical and mental demands and work environment requirements for this position. Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary. Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and community customers. Communicates With: Internally All city employees, department building representatives Externally Citizens, contractors, downtown parking & special service district members, building tenants for leased spaces (Department of Natural Resources, Historical Society), regulatory agency inspectors (Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, elevator inspectors, boiler Inspectors, etc.) Supervision: Assists in supervision of contractor, contracted, seasonal or temporary staff.

Qualifications / Conditions of Employment

  • Ability to work in confined spaces under all normal outdoor temperature conditions as well as in an office environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota.
  • Satisfactory completion of background examination, physical examination, and drug/alcohol testing.
  • Applicant MUST pass a (BCA) Bureau of Criminal Apprehension background check and successfully pass the required BCA Criminal Justice Information Services Security Awareness Training test.
  • Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.
  • Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to not public data. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data are being accessed, incumbent should take reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished, not public data must be properly stored according to city policies and the Minnesota Statutes.
  • Safety Sensitive Notice. This is a safety sensitive position which requires cannabis pre-employment drug testing. Safety sensitive position means a job, in which an impairment caused by drug, alcohol or cannabis usage would threaten the health and safety of any person.

Hours of Work

This position will typically work Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Evening, weekend and overtime hours may be required as necessary.

  • Vacation hours may be accrued to a maximum of 50 days or 400 hours.
  • Hours are accrued incrementally each pay period.
  • Vacation hours may be taken in 30-minute increments.
  • Unused balance carries over year to year.

Paid Sick Leave: Employees earn 8 hours of sick leave per month.

11 Paid Holidays and 1 Floating Holiday: All regular full-time employees of the City, except those who are governed by a union contract or different holiday policy, receive the following paid holidays:

  • Health insurance plans to choose from: $5,000 HDHP with an HSA, $3,400 HDHP with an HSA, $500 CMM, $100 CMM/Traditional Plan
  • Single Coverage The City will contribute 95% of the premium for the IRS Minimum Embedded Deductible Plan. The City will contribute 100% of the premium for the alternative High-Deductible plan. For all other single coverage plan options, the City will contribute at the same premium
