Job Overview CoreCivic is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for Correctional Urgent Care in Watonga, Oklahoma. Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $140,000 - $150,000/yr Medical, dental, vision, PTO, holiday pay, and 401(k) retirement plan Five CME days, DEA reimbursement, subscription to Up to Date Life insurance, emergency medical services, and additional benefits Responsibilities Conduct thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and medical histories for incarcerated individuals. Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, prescribing appropriate medications, therapies, and interventions. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, radiological examinations, and screenings. Provide vaccinations, perform health screenings, and promote preventive care measures. Perform basic technical skills such as suturing, splinting, and injections. Chronic Disease Management Monitor and manage chronic diseases prevalent in the correctional population, such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C. Ensure proper medication management: prescribing, adjusting dosages, and monitoring effectiveness. Educate patients on disease management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence. Collaborate with specialty care providers for consultations and referrals when necessary. Emergency Medical Services Respond to medical emergencies within the facility, providing immediate assessment, stabilization, and intervention. Coordinate with emergency medical services or arrange transfers to external facilities when required. Participate in emergency preparedness planning and training exercises. Collaboration & Coordination Work collaboratively with nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, dentists, social workers, and other correctional staff. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, providing necessary information, consultations, and referrals. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records of patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and medications. Adhere to patient confidentiality regulations and ensure the security and privacy of records. Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing correctional healthcare and professional ethical standards. Professional Development Stay updated with the latest advancements in primary care, correctional medicine, and healthcare regulations. Engage in continuous professional development activities. Provide training and education to correctional staff on primary healthcare topics as needed. Qualifications Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state/jurisdiction where the facility is located. Experience providing primary care or relevant experience in correctional or underserved populations (preferred). Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
