Cardiac Catheterization Technician at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC)AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a skilled Cardiac Catheterization Technician at the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). The technician will assist physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, operate advanced imaging and monitoring equipment, and ensure accurate documentation and patient safety throughout all procedures. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to function effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment.Benefits include 401(k), competitive salary, dental insurance, health insurance, and vision insurance.General DutiesPerform duties within the scope authorized by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).Fulfill all responsibilities in accordance with DHA, MTF, and contract requirements.Specific DutiesAssist physicians with cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker/defibrillator insertion, electrophysiology studies)Prepare and position patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and monitoring throughout proceduresOperate and maintain cardiac catheterization lab equipment and imaging systemsMonitor patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms; report abnormalities promptlyRecord and document patient history, procedural data, and results accurately in electronic systemsPerform equipment quality control, maintenance, and troubleshootingMaintain sterile technique and comply with infection control and safety protocolsIdentify anatomical and physiological abnormalities and assist in clinical decision-makingEnsure proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of instruments and equipmentMaintain supply inventory and coordinate replenishmentCommunicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teamsProvide patient education and reassurance before, during, and after proceduresPrioritize workload and respond effectively in emergency/high-pressure situationsQualifications:Graduate of a Cardiovascular Technologist program accredited by CAAHEPCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS)Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Minimum 18 months of clinical experience within the last 2 years as a Cardiac Catheterization TechnicianNo state license required; must meet federal/DHA requirementsRegistered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certificationStrong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and disease processesFamiliarity with cardiac arrhythmias and interventional proceduresAbility to operate complex diagnostic and interventional equipmentKnowledge of sterile technique, infection control, and patient safety standards8, 10, or 12-hour shiftsMay include weekends and holidaysOn-call and extended hours may be requiredHospital-based Cardiac Catheterization LaboratoryLevel I Trauma Center settingHigh-acuity, fast-paced clinical environmentMust meet occupational health requirementsMust be free from communicable diseasesMust complete required physical exam if applicableAnnual influenza vaccinationCompliance with CDC and DHA immunization and TB screening guidelinesMust obtain and maintain Tier 1 (NACI) background investigationMust be eligible to work in a federal healthcare environmentAdhere to DHA, MTF, and Joint Commission standards; maintain HIPAA compliance; demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct; participate in required training and continuing education Compensation: $45.00 - $47.00 per hourWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
