Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Technician III to serve as a senior technical resource and frontline field leader supporting structured cabling, fiber optics, ICT, and low-voltage infrastructure projects. This is a senior-level, hands-on position requiring advanced expertise in structured cabling, fiber installation and testing, ICT systems, and data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate is comfortable solving complex technical challenges, leading small teams, mentoring technicians, and maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and professionalism. This role is well suited for an experienced technician who wants to take on greater technical responsibility and leadership within data centers, enterprise environments, and other technology-focused facilities. Position Details Position Type: Hourly Employment: Contract with potential for extension or direct hire Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM; schedule may vary based on project requirements Location: Onsite in New Albany, OH Flexibility: Must be available for occasional evenings, weekends, overtime, and after-hours work based on project demands Travel: Must be willing to travel to and support other U.S. sites as needed Compensation: Based on experience and skill level Key Responsibilities Advanced Structured Cabling & ICT Infrastructure Install, service, upgrade, troubleshoot, and decommission complex structured cabling systems, including: Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A Fiber optic systems Low-voltage technologies Data and voice infrastructure Perform advanced fiber and copper work, including high-strand ribbon fiber fusion splicing. Terminate, test, certify, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic systems. Install and remove racks, cabinets, cable trays, pathways, patch panels, and network infrastructure. Perform advanced troubleshooting and remediation of cabling and connectivity issues. Install servers and perform rack-and-stack activities. Complete bonding, firestopping, cable channeling, and related infrastructure work. Support the installation and troubleshooting of network devices. Technical Subject Matter Expertise Apply advanced knowledge of TIA, BICSI, NEC, ANSI, and EIA standards , building codes, and life-safety requirements. Perform fiber and copper testing using industry-standard equipment, including: Fluke DSX8000 OTDR Visual Fault Locator (VFL) Conduct inspections, testing, documentation, remediation, and certification activities. Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, project specifications, and technical documentation. Create and maintain port maps and other project documentation. Understand switching, routing, and low-voltage signal flow. Troubleshoot network infrastructure and devices. Experience with Cisco router installation and configuration is preferred. Field Leadership & Mentoring Serve as the first level of field leadership for assigned projects or teams. Lead by example with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and productivity . Mentor and guide Infrastructure Technicians I and II. Provide technical direction and assistance to less experienced technicians. Coordinate daily workflows and assignments to keep projects on schedule and within scope. Monitor workmanship and ensure work is completed according to project specifications and industry standards. Promote a professional, collaborative, and safety-focused team environment. Customer & Project Support Serve as a professional, customer-facing technical resource. Communicate project status, technical challenges, solutions, and potential issues clearly. Respond to service and emergency requests as needed. Support timely resolution of issues while meeting applicable service-level requirements. Maintain positive working relationships with customers, project leadership, and field personnel. Documentation & Project Execution Maintain accurate electronic and written records of: Labor and time Materials Testing results Project progress Installation and remediation activities Request tools, equipment, materials, and supplies needed to maintain jobsite readiness. Participate in project meetings, technical training, workshops, and certification programs. Ensure assigned work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements. Technical Skills Successful candidates should have strong experience in several of the following areas: Advanced knowledge of TIA/BICSI standards and ICT best practices. Fiber fusion splicing, including high-strand ribbon fiber. Fiber and copper termination and testing. Fluke DSX8000, OTDR, and VFL testing. Patch panel installation. Rack-and-stack equipment installation. Network device and infrastructure mounting. Port map creation and interpretation. Technical documentation and electronic project reporting. Laptop/tablet-based digital work applications. Switching, routing, and low-voltage signal flow. Cisco router installation and configuration is preferred. Qualifications Required Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage or structured cabling systems. Demonstrated ability to install, terminate, test, and certify copper and fiber systems. Experience reading blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications. Working knowledge of NEC, ANSI, TIA, EIA, and BICSI standards. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to lead and mentor less experienced technicians. Preferred BICSI Technician Certification. Experience working with major structured cabling manufacturers such as Panduit, CommScope, Corning, Leviton, or similar. Data center or enterprise infrastructure experience. Experience with Cisco networking equipment. Advanced fiber optic certifications or training. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position performed primarily in data centers, technology environments, and construction-related settings. The role requires the ability to: Work primarily indoors with occasional outdoor assignments. Work in environments with moderate construction and data center noise. Sit, kneel, stoop, climb, bend, reach, talk, and hear while performing job duties. Stand and walk for extended periods. Regularly lift and/or move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequently lift and/or move materials weighing up to 25 lbs. Work at heights using ladders, lifts, or other approved equipment. Work in tight, confined, or restricted-access spaces.
