Maintenance Tech II - 3rd Shift

Mechanic PositionThe mechanic position is responsible for ensuring the equipment productivity and efficiency through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and monitoring. This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensure that all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety & quality are followed and complied with uniformly to reduce product and process variability.Duties and responsibilities include:Team player who aligns and upholds our values: Teamwork, Accountability, Innovation and Continuous Improvement and passion for customer and consumersAttendance is essential to perform dutiesAttend and actively participate in safety meetings and trainingsAlways ensure regulatory complianceComplete preventative maintenance requirements on all basic as well as filling and processing equipmentRead and interpret equipment manuals and work orders as required for maintenance and serviceTroubleshoot and perform repairs on various equipment including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatics and hydraulics operationsMonitor efficiency of all equipment and locate sources of problems by observing equipment in operationRemove or replace defective parts, determine changes in dimensional requirements using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instrumentsAdjust all necessary components of equipment as needed using hand tools, plumb bobs and straightedgesMust adhere to budget, USDA, OSHA, SQF, and FDA compliance guidelinesConserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job resultsMaintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories, anticipate the need, place and expedite orders, and verify receiptAssume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies/procedures and incorporate safety and health in all job duties/tasksAdhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediatelyPerform other duties as assigned.Education, experience & skills:One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience5+ years of related experience in packing machines/ production machinesExperience in a food manufacturing industry or similarTroubleshoot and repair the filling equipment (Elopak/Scholle)Basic repairs related to electrical components and processing equipment (from pumps and pasteurizers to the holding tank)Troubleshoot/change-over on the packaging equipmentIntermediate knowledge of plumbing, heating and refrigerationAbility to communicate in both English and Spanish preferredMust be well organized, able to plan and prioritize activities, and make decisions related to product qualitySAP knowledge a plusAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Licenses, certificates, registrations:Black Seal License a plusAbility to operate Power Industrial EquipmentWork environment & physical demands:Workers are required to wear proper PPE such as hair nets, ear plugs, and certain areas require earmuffsMust be able to work in changing temperatures indoors and outdoorsContinuous standingOccasional bending, sitting, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling and repetitive hand motionAbility to work with chemicals and lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to ascend and descend stairsThe pay range for this position is $28.56 to $36.72 per hour.
