Sr Backend Software Engineer (PHP / APIs)

Salary: $70,000 - 110,000 per year Requirements:

• We need 5-8 years of experience in web application development, backend systems, or software engineering.
• We need at least 5 years of hands-on PHP and SQL development experience in backend environments.
• We need at least 5 years of experience with JavaScript.
• We need at least 5 years of experience with Python or another scripting language.
• We need at least 5 years of experience working with Linux systems and command-line utilities.
• We need at least 5 years of experience supporting WordPress environments, including custom plugins and integrations.
• We need at least 5 years of experience designing and using REST APIs and connecting internal and third-party systems.
• We need at least 5 years of experience creating dashboards, reporting tools, CRUD applications, and admin interfaces.
• We need at least 5 years of experience with relational databases, SQL tuning, database design, and performance optimization.
• We need strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• We need excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work across technical and business teams.
• We need 2-3 years of experience collaborating with offshore development teams and external vendors.
• We prefer experience in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated environments.
• We need a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred skills include Apache and/or Nginx administration.

• We enhance, maintain, troubleshoot, and modernize existing web applications, WordPress plugins, custom APIs, and internal tools.
• We develop and support backend applications using PHP, SQL, and related technologies.
• We design, build, and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, CRUD applications, and administrative interfaces.
• We manage database operations, optimize queries, and protect data integrity and performance.
• We develop and maintain REST API integrations with internal and third-party applications.
• We integrate external vendor applications while securely handling Protected Health Information in line with HIPAA and privacy requirements.
• We support system updates, testing, deployments, and remediation work needed for compliance and regulatory standards.
• We troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis for defects and performance concerns.
• We collaborate with front-end designers and offshore development teams to deliver enhancements.
• We oversee offshore development activities and provide project updates to stakeholders.
• We manage user provisioning, credential administration, and system access requests.
• We maintain project documentation and track work items in Jira.
• We participate in cross-functional meetings and present technical updates as needed.
