Duties

Help

As an Art Specialist, you will:

• Oversee all activities in the Ceramics Studio, Woodshop, Multi-craft rooms, Art Colony, Sewing Room.
• Teach a variety of classes to the Independent Living, Independent Living Plus, Assisted Living residents, and Long-Term Care residents outside of the Ceramics Studio.
• Conduct weekly safety inspections of all areas of responsibility.
• Plan field trips with residents to a facility/fair as requested by residents to purchase supplies as needed.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.

Specialized Experience for the GS-07 : You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service . Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Planning, supervising, administering, or carrying out an educational, recreational, cultural, or other art program such as art festivals, competitions, or workshops; AND

- Performing as an artist;OR

- Demonstrating the methods and techniques of one or more art forms such as graphics, sculpture, pottery and ceramics, or metalwork and jewelry.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 1 academic year of graduate level education with a major study in the fine or applied arts (18 semesters or 27 quarters)

OR

Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement with a major study of the fine or applied arts.

OR

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

• A one year year probationary period may be required.

• Selectees will be subject to the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program.
• Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
• Because the AFRH's mission requires uninterrupted, direct human support and medical care for its Residents, this position is considered essential for continuing AFRH operations. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to arrive for duty on time, as scheduled, and to complete the assigned tour during emergency situations such as hazardous weather.
