Pharmacy Manager

Job Purpose and Summary As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care, promotes best practices, ensures compliance, and fosters a culture of safety and inclusion. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and consistent feedback. Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations, engaging technicians in training to become competent immunizers. Manage pharmacy inventory, protecting cold chain products and following all inventory best practices. Conduct onboarding for new technicians and pharmacists, ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure. Maintain compliance with all state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx Director as needed. Partner with the Store Manager to build a talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues and ensure their training for licensure. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, manage performance through observation, feedback, and annual reviews. Write or delegate pharmacy schedule creation, ensuring flexibility for scheduling and business needs. Review business reporting to identify operational gaps and develop action plans to improve workflow, service, patient care, and compliance. Create a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, providing psychological safety through open feedback and relevant action. Maintain clinical and technical skills, completing required trainings and CMEs, and expanding knowledge to better support patients. Support access to care through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing, where permissible. Comply with all relevant federal and state laws, professional standards, and ethical principles, protecting patient privacy and maintaining a safe workplace. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Essential Functions Regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within designated timeframes. Attention and focus: Concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between tasks. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Provide customer service and teamwork orientation; help people in a friendly manner. Use verbal and written communication; active listening; ask questions and avoid interruption. Mathematical reasoning: solve dispensing calculations and dosage determinations. Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best courses of action. Physical demands: remain upright, lift items up to 20 lbs., lift or exert up to 10 lbs. frequently, maintain visual acuity for small parts tasks. Team Management & Leadership Lead by example, set a positive tone, and delegate tasks. Empower team members, foster collaboration, and motivate them to achieve standards and high performance. Apply problem‑solving skills to address challenges and innovate solutions. Adaptability and accountability: navigate changing circumstances and take ownership. Coaching: reinforce, encourage, give feedback, discipline, and terminate team members when necessary. Provide any additional tasks as directed by the supervisor or manager. Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3–5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Ability to work in the home store and across other locations to meet business needs. Pay Range Typical hourly rate: $70.00 – $91.00. Actual base pay depends on experience, education, geography, and other factors. The role is eligible for bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive programs.
