TRANSPORTATION MANAGER

Summary: The Transportation Manager will oversee drivers and their collection routes to ensure customer collections are managed in a safe and efficient manner. The individual will schedule customer routes and communicate deadlines to the drivers. The Transportation Manager will interact with customers, employees, members of senior management, and regulatory representatives. In every case, this individual must present themselves with the professionalism and discretion appropriate for each interactive situation. Responsibilities Launch, plan, and supervise the day-to-day onsite operations of your specific area and personnel Monitor inventory of supplies needed, including safety gear, warehouse supplies, and office supplies Oversee truck maintenance plan with lease company Oversee maintenance for plant equipment Execute necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations Ensure thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following up with consistent discipline and retraining Conduct onsite and mobile observations for improved safety and productivity Supervise proper flow of paperwork with ops specialists Formulate both short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the district manager Interact with customers as needed, including some site visits Engage suppliers in problem solving and participate in suppliers’ improvement processes by providing performance feedback on supplier surveys Serve as a back-up to drivers when needed Other tasks and responsibilities as needed or assigned Qualifications Must have a good driving record within the past 3 years; no accident reported Must have excellent customer service skills with employees, customers and regulators Must understand how to use a computer for data entry Must be able to use a software app on mobile phone for manifest documentation Excellent organizational and prioritization skills Quickly adapt to changing business demands Quickly grasp and adapt to new tasks, software and protocols Must meet all applicable DOT and licensing requirements Licensed for vehicle to be driven (Class A, B or C) Must be able to obtain and maintain a Medical Examiner’s Card (MEC) Strong communication skills Climbing in and out of vehicle and cargo area Expected Hours of Work Able to work an agreed upon standard schedule Additional hours as job duties demand Travel Travel to domestic Trilogy facilities when necessary (less than 10%) Must have a current, valid driver's license Able to be insurable under our company's liability insurance policy Work Conditions Physical Demands Able to lift and carry up to 65 lbs. Able to push and pull containers weighing up to 250 lbs. (96-gallon totes) Able to load and unload materials into truck Able to climb in and out of vehicle and cargo area multiple times per day Able to walk extended distances Able to maintain focus and analyze data Able to speak and communicate proficiently Routine physical exertion: standing, walking, climbing, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending Able to work in an office environment Able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time Environment & Physical Effort Able to lift and carry up to 65 lbs.
