Position Summary Animal Hospital at Lakewood Ranch is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or highly skilled Veterinary Technician for our well‑established, full‑service general practice in Bradenton, Florida. Department: Veterinary Technicians Location: Bradenton, Florida Compensation: $25.00 - $28.00 / hour Sign‑On Bonus: $1,000 for CVTs with surgery and anesthesia experience Why Lakewood Ranch? Hands‑on Clinical Experience Advanced surgery and anesthesia Exotic animal medicine (small mammals and exotics) Diagnostic imaging and laboratory work High‑quality preventative and wellness care Urgent and same‑day medical cases Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Nursing: Perform patient assessments and monitor clinical status Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments Provide hands‑on nursing care throughout hospitalization and recovery Respond confidently to urgent patient needs Assist in outpatient and inpatient care workflows Surgery & Anesthesia Support: Prepare patients and surgical suites using sterile technique Assist in surgical procedures and patient positioning Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery care Monitor vitals including ECG, SpO₂, blood pressure, and temperature Support safe and efficient post‑operative recovery Diagnostics & Laboratory Support: Perform in‑house diagnostics (bloodwork, urinalysis, cytology) Assist with radiographs and imaging procedures Collect and process diagnostic samples Communicate findings with the medical team Exotic & Mixed Animal Support: Assist with handling and restraint of small mammals and exotic species Support species‑specific care and treatment plans Learn and apply specialized handling techniques for non‑traditional patients Client Communication & Education: Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and preventive care Provide clear discharge instructions and at‑home care guidance Build strong client relationships through compassionate communication Hospital Operations: Maintain accurate medical records in EMR systems Ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance standards Assist with inventory and supply management Support smooth daily hospital flow Qualifications Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout shifts Ability to lift and restrain animals up to 50 lbs Manual dexterity for clinical and surgical tasks Ability to work in a fast‑paced clinical setting with competing priorities Comfortable working in a veterinary environment with animal dander, cleaning agents, medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals 1+ year of veterinary technician experience required Strong experience in patient care, anesthesia, and surgery support Experience in general practice or high‑quality clinical environments Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology with ability to sit for the VTNE (preferred) Exotic animal experience or strong interest in learning (preferred) Surgery and anesthesia experience highly valued (preferred) Interest in long‑term growth and leadership development (preferred) Compensation & Sign‑On Bonus Starting at $25/hour+ based on experience for Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT) $1,000 sign‑on bonus for CVT with surgery/anesthesia experience Performance‑based growth opportunities Full‑Time Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) with employer match Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay Life and disability coverage options Professional Growth & Development Continuing Education opportunities Professional development support HeadStart Student Loan Repayment Program (Innovetive Petcare CVTs) Designed to support eligible newly credentialed technicians Helps reduce student loan burden while building long‑term careers Licensure reimbursement and renewal support Lifestyle & Perks Employee pet care discounts Supportive, team‑focused hospital culture Career pathway opportunities within Innovetive Petcare Leadership and Practice Management tracks Marketing and operations pathways Recruiting and talent development opportunities Specialty support roles (pharmacy, hospital operations, etc.) Who Thrives Here?
