Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Burlington, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,820–$1,910
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Unit: 30-bed cardiac medical progressive care unit with private rooms and continuous remote telemetry monitoring
• Typical Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5; ratios may be adjusted based on patient acuity, including patients receiving drips or BiPAP
• Scheduling: Self-assisted scheduling with assignments based on departmental needs, patient acuity, skill mix, and prior experience

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of progressive care, cardiac PCU, stepdown, intermediate care, or comparable experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Recent EPIC experience required
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills in high-acuity adult patient care
• Ability to complete a compliance EKG examination
• Willingness to complete required orientation and unit-based learning modules
• Travel nursing experience is not required; first-time travelers are encouraged to apply

Progressive Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult cardiac and medical progressive care patients
• Care for patients with congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, dysrhythmias, syncope, suspected myocardial infarction, pacemaker placement, and pre- or post-cardiac catheterization needs
• Manage patients with secondary respiratory conditions, including COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP requirements
• Interpret telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac rhythm or patient condition
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive medication infusions, including titration when clinically indicated and within unit practice standards
• Provide peripheral IV and PICC line care and management
• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization
• Monitor and care for patients receiving procedural sedation
• Manage chest tubes, including Emerson and Pleur-Evac systems
• Provide tracheostomy care and manage CPAP/BiPAP therapy
• Collaborate with rapid response and code teams to support timely interventions
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
