We are seeking a highly skilled Applied Scientist to lead the development and implementation of state-of-the-art algorithms and machine learning models, with a focus on advancing the use of Generative AI (GenAI) to address critical healthcare challenges. As a Staff Machine Learning Scientist, you will help define the long-term AI strategy for Cleveland Clinic, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to identify business needs and deliver scalable, AI-driven solutions.We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Scientist to lead the development and implementation of state-of-the-art algorithms and machine learning models, with a focus on advancing the use of Generative AI (GenAI) to address critical healthcare challenges. As a Senior or Staff Machine Learning Scientist, you will collaborate with business and clinical stakeholders across various functions to understand complex business needs, define and advance AI strategies, and deliver innovative, scalable, AI-driven solutions. You will apply advanced AI techniques to real-world healthcare problems, conduct experiments to evaluate model performance, and contribute to the integration of AI solutions into clinical and operational systems. At the Staff level, you will also help shape the long-term AI strategy for Cleveland Clinic and provide strategic direction for the development and application of emerging AI technologies. To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong machine learning background, solid software development skills, and a passion for applying emerging technologies to improve healthcare.The level of Machine Learning Scientist will be based on your experience and educational background: Staff Machine Learning ScientistSenior Machine Learning ScientistA caregiver in this role works remotely across the country Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m. with up to 5% of travel required.A caregiver who excels in this role will: Develop, train, fine-tune, and optimize advanced GenAI and ML models to solve important problems in healthcare.Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the performance of AI models.Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, operations, and clinical teams to develop and integrate AI solutions into existing and new products.Mentor and guide interns, junior staff, scientists, and engineers, depending on the level.Stay up to date with the latest developments in GenAI and large language models.Participate in the development of technology roadmaps for AI projects.Present project updates to team members and cross-functional partners.Perform other duties as assigned.Staff Machine Learning ScientistMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related fieldsSeven+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML research and development with emphasis in predictive modeling, deep leaning, GenAI and LLMs post PhDOR 10+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML research and development with emphasis in predictive modeling, deep leaning, GenAI and LLMs post Master’s degreeExpertise in using AI frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, to build and tune foundation modelsIn depth experience in deep learning and GenAI techniques in Natural Language Processing and multi-modal representationsStrong software skills in Python or other relevant programming languagesAbility to work cross functionally and strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey technical concept to non-technical stakeholdersStrong problem-solving skills and passion for leveraging AI in healthcarePreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Experience developing and deploying AI technologies in healthcareFamiliarity with healthcare data and systems (EHR, medical imaging, etc.)Experience with cloud computing technologies related to AI, including Azure, Databricks, etc.Familiarity with MLOps best practicesSenior Machine Learning ScientistMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics, Applied Math, Engineering, or related fieldsSeven years of hands-on experience in AI/ML research and development with emphasis in predictive modeling, deep leaning, GenAI and LLMsOR a PhD and four years of hands-on experience in AI/ML research and development with emphasis in predictive modeling, deep leaning, GenAI and LLMs post PhDExpertise in using AI frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, to build and fine tune foundation modelsIn depth experience in deep learning and GenAI techniques in Natural Language Processing and multi-modal representationsStrong software skills in Python or other relevant programming languagesExperience developing and deploying AI technologies in healthcareFamiliarity with healthcare data and systems (EHR, medical imaging, etc.)Ability to take a project from requirements gathering and design to actual product launchExperience with cloud computing technologies related to AI, including Azure, Databricks, etc.Familiarity with MLOps best practicesPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: PhD*The compensation range provided corresponds to the Staff Machine Learning Scientist or Senior Machine Learning Scientist position. Individual pay rates may vary depending on Education Background and Relevant Experience* Physical Requirements:Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.Personal Protective Equipment:Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Pay RangeMinimum Annual Salary: $143,960.00Maximum Annual Salary: $230,322.50The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
