Position Summary Bishop Shanahan High School seeks a collaborative, student-centered School-Based Mental Health & Wellness Coordinator to lead and coordinate the school's behavioral health and wellness initiatives. This full-time, 10-month position serves as the primary liaison between the school, families, community agencies, and behavioral health providers to ensure students receive coordinated, timely, and effective mental health support. The coordinator will oversee schoolwide prevention efforts, strengthen systems of care, and collaborate with administrators, counselors, faculty, and outside agencies to promote student wellness and resilience. Primary Responsibilities Coordinate mental health services for students and families. Monitor and support students experiencing mental health concerns or crises. Coordinate re-entry plans for students returning from hospitalization, treatment, or extended mental health absences. Maintain communication with community providers, therapists, caseworkers, probation officers, and other support agencies. Provide direct counseling services to a caseload of students as needed. Lead the development and implementation of the school's behavioral health and wellness initiatives. Help strengthen the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Identify gaps in student mental health services and recommend improvements. Coordinate prevention and early intervention efforts, including trauma-informed practices. Support equitable access to behavioral health resources and Tier I prevention programs. Collaboration & Professional Learning Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, faculty, families, and community partners to support student success. Support implementation of mental health education initiatives and awareness programs. Provide or coordinate professional development for faculty and staff on student mental health, trauma-informed practices, and wellness. Participate in regional and diocesan professional learning communities. Program Evaluation Collect and analyze program data to evaluate outcomes and guide continuous improvement. Assist in reporting and documentation related to behavioral health initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Experience working with children or adolescents in school or community mental health settings. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and outside service providers. Knowledge of MTSS, trauma-informed practices, and evidence-based mental health interventions. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while fostering strong collaborative relationships. Strong technology skills and proficiency with standard computer applications.
