Job Title Development Manager – Stewardship Manager, Office of University Advancement, City University of New York (CUNY) Overview The City University of New York (CUNY) is the nation’s leading urban public university serving more than 500,000 degree‑seeking students. The Office of University Advancement seeks an experienced Stewardship Manager to foster and maintain relationships with donors, support fundraising streams, and collaborate with college leadership to develop donor engagement strategies. Responsibilities Leads cultivation and stewardship activities to engage and strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors. Develops strategic fundraising initiatives to attract and engage potential donors aligned with the University and CUNY’s mission; establishes relationships with alumni and philanthropic organizations to secure financial contributions. Develops policies and procedures for evaluating and accepting gifts, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards; establishes clear processes for monitoring and reporting on use of gifts. Executes stewardship of temporarily restricted and endowed gifts; tracks donor information and sends timely reports. Partners with Finance and Administration and other CUNY Central offices to ensure disbursements comply with gift agreements. Manages donor recognition programs, including donor appreciation events. Provides colleges with research reports and briefing materials on prospective donors to support coordinated development opportunities. Provides proposals for multi‑College donor relations approaches and serves as liaison to College advancement staff. Manages donor information within the University’s database, prepares briefings for donor relations purposes. Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and six years of related experience required. Six years of experience in donor relations, preferably within an educational institution. Demonstrated knowledge and mastery of donor relations tools. Excellent interpersonal, managerial, and organizational skills. Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interest in working as part of a team of development professionals. Commitment to providing the highest level of support and assistance to the 26 Colleges of CUNY. Hybrid Work Schedule This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule until further notice. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $74,249 - $86,741 , commensurate with credentials, education, and experience. Health and wellness plans; competitive retirement/pension and savings plans.
