RN Gastroenterology

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Inpatient GI Services provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures and treatments. The role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care. The nurse is expected to have at least one year of GI or Endoscopy experience and maintain certifications relevant to acute care and gastrointestinal nursing. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the GI and Endoscopy unit.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor patient status during procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC EMR system.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout procedures and recovery.
• Participate in patient education regarding procedures and post-care instructions.
• Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and infection control standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of California.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in GI or Endoscopy nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) certification.
• Experience in surgical nursing or inpatient care settings.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires working in a hospital inpatient GI and Endoscopy environment.
• Must adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Hospital scrubs provided for the position.

Scheduling:

• Day and PM shift schedules available.
• Shift assignments are determined by department needs and staffing requirements.
