Aspire Public Schools is a college-preparatory charter school system serving TK-12 scholars across California. We are seeking a Dean of Student Supports to partner closely with the Principal in fostering a respectful, inclusive culture grounded in our core values. Job Summary The Dean of Student Supports is responsible for supporting the Principal in building a culture that fosters respect and is driven by the principals of “College for Certain”. This role will integrate strong models of relationship development, collaborative learning, and conflict resolution skills through managing student behavior so that students can thrive in their learning environments. Student Life & Culture Implement, model, and enforce policies and practices related to student discipline and Aspire cultural norms Participate in and lead parent conferences concerning discipline and attendance Document, manage, and report student discipline data using appropriate systems Collaborate with the administrative team to ensure Student Services compliance at the school site level, including 504 plans, SSTs, Home Hospital, and Independent Study programs Oversee and develop student mediation and conflict resolution programs Respond to and participate in complaints or investigations of student misbehavior, working with principal, psychologists, and counselors to recommend resolutions Supervise students during school-sponsored activities Plan and organize extracurricular activities that support the development of student interpersonal skills and relationships Lead student life activities including athletics, programs, social activities, music and drama, student governments, assemblies, contests, and publications as appropriate Manage relationships with outside vendors, contractors, and entities that provide student activities Leadership Assign work, supervise, and evaluate direct reports Build and maintain relationships with parents, community stakeholders, sponsoring districts, and neighborhood schools to establish mutual trust, respect, and cooperation Support teachers with classroom management by delivering high-quality professional development aligned with best instructional practices; coach and observe classrooms to ensure compliance Support academic programs such as Special Education services and state testing requirements Collaborate with the Principal and Home Office to achieve site and organizational goals Lead projects such as process improvement or inquiry-driven instructional improvements Lead and participate in staff meetings and training, traveling within and outside the school region Student Safety Collaboratively work with students, parents, and school staff to build a safe and productive learning environment Adopt and manage processes to safeguard students while on campus Manage emergency issues in alignment with Aspire practices, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment Participate in and train staff on safety drills, emergency plans, and safety-related policy development Additional Duties Demonstrate knowledge of and support Aspire Public Schools’ mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies, procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior Perform other related duties as required and assigned Qualifications Competencies: Knowledge of business and management principles; program development, planning, resource allocation, and coordination; excellent organization, time‑management, and follow‑up skills; ability to handle multiple projects concurrently; teamwork; working in stressful environments Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to build interpersonal relationships across diverse backgrounds Knowledge of human behavior and learning; ability to assess and recommend Knowledge of conflict resolution strategies Knowledge of applicable laws, Education Code, and regulations governing educational practices Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data Minimum educational level: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s or Ph.D. in Education preferred; valid credential preferred Experience: 3+ years working in underserved communities as a full‑time teacher required; 5+ years teaching and/or administrative experience preferred Physical requirements: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull; move, lift, and carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height Use hands repeatedly (fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping) Normal depth perception Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods Operate keyboard, office equipment, and telephone using hand dexterity See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aids Work authorization requirements: Clear DOJ background screening Authorized to work in the United States Provide health (TB) clearance (most updates every four years) Compensation Aspire Public Schools offers a competitive base salary benchmarked against local districts and charter schools. Salary schedule is based on years of experience for this position type.
