Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Resident Assistant is responsible for providing compassionate, person-centered care that supports each resident's physical, emotional, social, and overall well-being. This role assists residents with activities of daily living, monitors changes in condition, promotes resident independence whenever possible, and partners with the nursing team to deliver exceptional care.
The CNA serves as one of the primary caregivers for our residents and plays a critical role in creating positive daily experiences through kindness, professionalism, attentiveness, and meaningful interactions.

Resident Care & Daily Living Support
• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care in accordance with each resident's service plan.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, and personal care.
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and use of mobility devices while maintaining resident safety.
• Encourage residents to remain as independent as possible while providing assistance appropriate to their needs.
• Assist residents with dining, hydration, and meal service as needed.
• Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality during all aspects of care.
Resident Observation & Communication
• Observe residents throughout each shift and promptly report changes in physical condition, behavior, appetite, mobility, cognition, or emotional well-being.
• Communicate concerns to the licensed nurse in a timely manner.
• Respond promptly and professionally to resident call systems and requests for assistance.
• Build trusting relationships with residents by providing compassionate, respectful, and individualized care.
• Support residents during difficult or emotional situations with patience and empathy.
Documentation & Compliance
• Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
• Document resident care according to company policies and applicable regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Follow all infection prevention and control procedures.
• Assist with maintaining survey readiness by following established policies and procedures.
Resident Safety & Quality of Life
• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
• Follow proper body mechanics and safe transfer techniques.
• Recognize and report potential safety hazards immediately.
• Respond appropriately during emergencies following community emergency procedures.
• Encourage participation in activities and community events that enhance quality of life.
• Promote resident choice, dignity, and respect in every interaction.
Teamwork & Community Support
• Work collaboratively with nurses, QMAs, caregivers, therapy providers, dietary staff, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, and other departments.
• Participate in shift reports and communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing team members.
• Support coworkers during busy periods to ensure excellent resident care.
• Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude while representing OPS Living.
• Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and compassion.

Requirements:- Current Indiana Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing.
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the care team.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living, senior living, memory care, long-term care, or healthcare.
- Experience providing dementia care.
- Experience with electronic documentation systems.
- Additional training in resident-centered care or infection prevention.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, reach, and assist residents with daily activities.
- Ability to safely lift, transfer, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
